About Us
The Australian dairy industry comprises a number of organisations that represent different sectors of the industry. Collectively, these organisations provide a framework that enables the industry to be internationally competitive, innovative and sustainable.
The organisations below are some of those that represent the above sectors. They work with each other, and with others, to advance one of the country’s most important rural industries.
Australian Dairy Farmers Limited is a not-for-profit company representing the interests of Australian dairy farmers.
The Australian Dairy Herd Improvement Scheme (ADHIS) is an initiative of the Australian Dairy Farmers and is partially funded by Dairy Service Levy via Dairy Australia. The core activity of ADHIS is to calculate Australian Breeding Values for dairy traits.
ADPF is the peak policy body for commercial/non-farm members of the Australian dairy industry and is open to entities operating in Australia that are engaged in the manufacture, marketing or trading of dairy products and/or dairy related products.
Dairy Australia invests about $30 million of Dairy Service Levy payments and $15 million of taxpayer funds in a range of services for the Australian dairy industry that are not provided elsewhere.
The Dairy Extension Centre is a ‘virtual’ centre of extension capability and program delivery. It operates within the Department of Primary Industries and delivers extension services to meet South Eastern Australian dairy farmers’ needs.
Dairy Innovation Australia is the new innovation hub for dairy manufacturing research and development. The company is industry led, with members representing over 70% of Australian milk production, and brings together a critical mass of skills and expertise.
The Geoffrey Gardiner Dairy Foundation funds activities that benefit the Victorian dairy industry and dairying communities, which in turn benefits the wider community.
The National Centre for Dairy Education Australia is the Australian dairy industry’s provider of vocational education. It offers high-quality education and training that is accredited and recognised throughout Australia.
