Manual Scrapers

Description

Rubber or metal bladed scrapers or thick brooms can be used to clean or break-up solids prior to hosing small areas. Useful on ramps, steps and other uneven surfaces.

Larger versions (1.4 - 2m wide) with wheels can reduce work load and cost $600 -$700. 

Tips on Getting the Best Result

Make sure they are light and strong – aluminium versions are available. Break-up pads prior to removal with hose. 

Pros and Cons

Low cost and effective on small areas but require physical effort. Areas will become slippery for cows if not washed afterwards. 

Issues in Making it Happen

Labour

Time and effort is involved but reduces hosing time. OH&S issues arise if areas become slippery.
