Dribble Bars - Case Study
Just a Dribble’ll Do You
A dribble bar can help keep the yard wet and reduce water use at clean up. Phillip, Karen and Jason Hughes from Edith Creek, Tasmania, use water from the plate cooler and dribble it through a bar at the entry of the dairy. Polypipe with holes drilled through let the water dribble out. Placed at the top of the slope it is another way to keep sections of the yard wet.
Tipping drums can also be used. These wet the yard without wetting the cows. The Hughes use drums that gradually fill with water to a certain level and then automatically dump onto the yard.
