Australian Blue wins ultimate Gold in the UK

In a major coup for Berrys Creek Gourmet Cheese, its multi-award winning ‘Mossvale Blue’ has collected top honours by winning Gold in the Blue Vein category and then being named ‘Best Australian Cheese in Show’ at the annual Guild of Fine Foods World Cheese Awards.

Held in Birmingham in the UK, this the largest cheese competition in the world with 200 judges sampling cheeses from over 2500 entries from 34 countries.

Berrys Creek ‘Oak Blue’ was also entered into the Blue Vein category and came away with a Bronze Medal.

This award follows Berrys Creek Gold Medal triumph at the World Cheese Awards in Spain in 2009 for the highly acclaimed Tarwin Blue which was also a 2010 AGDA finalist.

Located in the small dairying town of Poowong in South Gippsland, Victoria, Berrys Creek Gourmet Cheese is Australian owned and operated. At the helm is cheese-maker Barry Charlton who’s been making cheese for 30 years.

Since opening its doors in 2007, the company has thrived, winning an extensive range of medals and awards from around Australia and overseas for its gourmet farmhouse cheeses made milk from the Berrys Creek cows.
