Snack Tips

  • Create a pick ‘n’ mix bag with grapes, cheese cubes and plain popcorn or make an after-school snack plate with cubes of cheese, rice crackers, green apple and raisins

  • Cut a small slit in the lid of a tub of yogurt, insert an icy pole stick and freeze. Peel off the lid and enjoy a frozen yogurt icy pole on a summer day

  • Mini quiches and frittatas made with milk and cheese will keep kids going for longer

  • Keep kids hydrated with a tropical slushie made with fruit, yogurt and ice

  • Serve homemade chicken nuggets or fish bites with dairy dips e.g. avocado and sour cream, cucumber and yogurt or sweet chilli and cream cheese

  • Serve a bowl of yogurt as a ‘dip’ on a fruit platter for kids

  • Next time you have a few pieces of leftover fruit from a fruit platter or kids snack, freeze them and add them to your next smoothie

  • Pour leftover milkshakes or smoothies into ice trays and freeze. Use the ice blocks in your next milkshake or smoothie

  • Fill wholegrain pita wraps or tortillas with grated cheddar and grated apple. Toast in a sandwich press until golden

  • Cherry bocconcini are just the right size for little mouths, serve with a few sweet cherry tomatoes

  • If you’re short of time, dairy is a great snack on its own. Give kids a portion of milk (plain or flavoured), some cheese and crackers or a tub of yogurt and away you go.
