Rural R&D Corporations
Dairy Australia is one of 16 rural Rural Research & Development Corporations (RDC's) servicing the needs of agriculture and the Australian public more broadly through the agricultural sector. Most RDC's focus on specific industries and vary in form and operations depending on the unique structure and needs of the industry they serve.
Some RDC's focus their efforts in specific areas of the supply chain while other like Dairy Australia work across all parts of the chain. However, all RDC's are involved in R&D and most are involved in diffusion (extension), marketing, industry information and strategy.
The RDC’s communicate with each other and collaborate extensively, sometimes directly, and often through aligned investments or common participation. Notable areas of collaboration include trade policy support, climate change and adaptation, and the growing area of health and nutrition research and diffusion. RDC's meet regularly, at multiple levels, under the auspices of the council of chairs of the RDC's to discuss and address common strategic issues and share approaches to improve operational efficiency issues.
Dairy Australia works across the supply chain and collaborates closely with the various RDC's representing the livestock and grains industries and the many RDC's working on pan-agricultural issues such as climate and environmental management.
Dairy Australia works with the following RDC's on specific programs to help build an internationally competitive, innovative and sustainable dairy industry in Australia.
