Effective international market access
Need/issue:
Southern Australian company and farm gate returns are heavily influenced by the opportunities open to Australian exports in international markets. Australian access to preferred high value markets is also heavily affected by:
- Trade policy settings and reforms in major producers such as the EU and US
- Buyer perceptions and evaluations of the Australian industry in general.
Program objective:
To secure a more favourable and profitable export market environment for Australian dairy products through strategic trade reforms, and ensure that access opportunities are not eroded subsequently through inappropriate regulatory or policy changes.
In key export markets develop industry level platforms that generate and sustain an active buyer preference for Australian products and support higher exporter returns.
Projects:
The defensive aspects of this program link closely to Dairy Australia's industry risk management program.
