Global market development
Background:
The project addresses the need for an ongoing presence in overseas markets at a time when supply from Australia is tight. Under these conditions exporters need to maintain the maximum number of opportunities to find the more profitable export markets.
Dairy Australia assists this by keeping customers aware of the Australian dairy industry. The Global Markets Project achieves this in markets where Dairy Australia does not run specific programs, as well as reinforcing the objectives in those markets targeted for specific programs.
Project objective:
Support the work of individual companies in key markets and globally.
Project scope:
The Dairy Australian magazine is the primary vehicle for achieving the objective. It includes articles on developments in the Australian dairy industry at farm, factory and manufacturing level, and an update on the Australian dairy season. It is published in English, Japanese, Chinese and Korean and sent by e-mail to 4,000 readers in 60 countries.
The development and maintenance of a global key contacts database for The Dairy Australian is also a valuable resource for Australian exporters seeking new contacts, and for Dairy Australia in informing overseas parties of the situation in respect of issues of concern.
The project also includes the preparation of promotional materials (such as posters) for use by overseas agents promoting Australian dairy products. These materials are also used in Dairy Australia’s market specific activities.
Outcomes/benefits:
This project supports Australian dairy positioning, and returns to farmers and the industry from key export markets. It does this by supporting individual companies in key global markets. Primary outcomes are long term:
- Differentiate Australia as a safe, trustworthy, reliable supplier of quality products
- Promote the increased use of Australian food ingredients
- stablish and maintain trust in Australian dairy by overseas decision makers and buyers
- Reduce the business costs of exporters through their ability to leverage off industry level presence and activities in key markets
