Other bilateral market development
Dairy Australia began marketing activities in the Middle East and South East Asia at the request of key exporting companies. Now, when supply from Australia is tight, it’s important to maintain an ongoing presence in these markets to demonstrate Australia’s commitment to the market.
Project objective:
Educate customers in the markets on key Australian dairy products, and promote more and better applications of Australian dairy ingredients specifically in the Middle East and South East Asia.
Project scope:
Activities target senior managers who play an important role in purchasing decision making and policy making in dairy manufacturing companies, dairy trading companies, food service, bakery, retail and government.
The activities include seminars and individual meetings in the markets. Given the limited budget, seminars in the Middle East and South East Asian markets are held in alternate years. The Middle East will be the main market for 2010/11.
A presence in South East Asia will be maintained through e-mail and phone contact and a visit to key players in the market.
Outcomes/benefits:
Growth of export sales to these markets contributes to farm and industry profitability. Key outcomes include:
- Educate customers on key Australian dairy products
- Promote more/better applications of Australian dairy ingredients
- Provide an industry level review of developments in Australia and around the world
- Promote the increased use of Australian dairy ingredients in the markets
- Build on and maintain the communication and networks with the markets
- Provide good opportunities to develop new customers to Australian dairy
