Background:
With the growth of the Australian dairy industry there has also been a substantial growth in information related to dairy science and technology, trade and economics, farm management, business management. A central information repository is required to capture dairy industry information and make it available to key stakeholders in varying formats, print and electronic.
The library facilitates access to quality dairy information by capturing the content and depositing it into a searchable database.
Dairy Australia library has indexed a unique collection of dairy research reports, books, journals conference papers and grey literature to enable easy access to key dairy industry information for dairy farmers, research scientists, manufacturers and service providers.
Project objective:
To provide Australian dairy industry stakeholders access to search and retrieve dairy industry research reports, books, journals and online research resources.
Project scope:
Dairy Australia through the library provides:
- Free access to the collection of dairy industry reports, books, journals and online research resources in Australia. It captures industry information produced by its network of industry bodies both locally and internationally.
- A central repository for the research projects, past and present.
- Access to online sources of scientific, technical, medical, business, news and patents databases.
- Free information services to more than 45 per cent of enquiries to the farmers, dairy industry organisations, manufacturers.
This core business function answers over 6,000 enquiries each year for the dairy industry.

- Improve communications of completed Dairy Australia projects to stakeholders
- Gain access to related research conducted by other bodies
- Enhance Dairy Australia’s attribution to the benefits delivered
- Provide a service to other research bodies in the dairy industry
