Needs/issues:

Awareness on environmental sustainability has grown rapidly over last 10 years resulting in a greater degree of scrutiny on products and services. As community concerns about the environment continue to grow, Australia’s milk manufacturers are being asked to demonstrate greater environmental responsibility and transparency.

A number of multi-national companies now require resource efficiency measurements from their suppliers. This will require the Australian industry to measure a number of inputs develop benchmarks and develop a strategy to demonstrate improvements in resource efficiency.

Program objective:

• Achieve a sustainable and profitable dairy production and supply chain, and enhance the dairy industry’s reputation among government, commerce and the wider community for responsible resources management.
• To create processes/systems that measure/report on the industry’s GHG emission performance and compare it with other industries.
• Develop a system to create benchmarks for the industry
