Product applications
Research tells us the key drivers of dairy consumption are health and wellbeing, versatility and enjoyment. While Health & Nutrtion (H&N) projects focus on promoting the health benefits of dairy, this project focuses on the other key drivers.
Research shows that while consumers see dairy as beneficial to health, they're not consuming adequate dairy to derive these benefits. Barriers to consumption have been identified as:
- low consciousness of dairy in consumer’s diets
- lack of practical knowledge on how to include “enough” dairy into the diet
The product application project addresses this by promoting "how to" consume more dairy, and therefore is an enabler for H&N projects. In addition, dairy manufacturers have a need to develop food education materials, but don't have in-house capability to do so. This project offers a cost-efficient solution for the industry, by providing dairy food expertise at a competitive rate.
Project objective:
- Promote the benefits of Australian dairy foods outside the health and nutrition sphere, with a focus on versatility and enjoyment.
- Promote the application of Australian dairy foods into daily diet.
Project scope:
1. Develop positive and useful food education materials for key target audiences that assist them in using and increasing dairy food in their diet. eg. recipes, tips, general product information, serving and usage information, videos.
2. Promote and disseminate these materials to key target audiences, ie online consumers, retailers, canteens, foodservice and food media, as well as H&N's audiences and International Marketing's audiences.
3. Offering manufacturers our services for a competitive fee, for the development of food educational materials which promote the benefits of and usage solutions for specific Australian dairy products.
Outcomes/benefits:
Positive messages about dairy food disseminated to key audiences encourages higher perceived value/enjoyment and higher consumption, which contributes to farm profitability.
Increased consumer capability to provide and use a range of Australian dairy foods in the daily diet.
