Dairy Industry People Development Council

Background:

The ability of the industry to attract, develop and retain people has come to the fore in discussions on maintaining/expanding the industry, and driving productivity/profitability. People have been identified as drivers of productivity through Dairy Moving Forward.

Project objective:

Understand the nature, number and requirements of people within the various segments of the industry as well as the role that people play in developing and applying technologies in order to develop regional workforce development plans.

Project scope:

The project will support the operation of the Council in regular meetings and broader industry forums together with undertaking some minor research and reporting tasks.

Outcomes/benefits:

People are a key driver of farm productivity and profitability.

This project ensures there is high level input into the dairy industry's workforce development strategy to lead policy and organisational alignment, people development research, and people systems thinking/innovation.

This is to be actioned through the development of discussion and policy papers to inform key stakeholders, together with facilitation of at least one major forum annually. Under strategies developed, regions will be able to develop plans in the context of clearly articulated National workforce development strategy, and the industry will be able to assess its progress on summative and formative data.
