Participants will examine their own calf rearing operations to identify areas for improvement. At the completion of this review, they will be encouraged to develop a farm action plan to support achievement of their specific calf rearing goals.
Day 1 of this series of workshops was kindly hosted by The Priebbenow family and we focused on preparation for calving, calf housing, calf husbandry and biosecurity.
Day 2 of this series of workshops was kindly hosted by The Stewart family and focussed on calf health, colostrum management, nutrition andweaning.
Day 3 will focus on calf pathways, a review of all calf topics and putting together a 'Plan on a page' for calf rearing in your business. We will also discuss disbudding practices and have a practical demonstration using the various pain relief options available.
At the on-farm workshops, you will have the opportunity to share experiences with other participants as they explore ways to overcome roadblocks to improving calf rearing management on their farms.
