Healthy kids need 3 serves of dairy foods... every day!

Only 1 out of 5 primary school kids has their 3 serves of dairy every day1.

Milk, cheese and yogurt are on the lunchbox wish lists of Aussie kids,2 so help them get their 3 serves of dairy foods every day by adding some to their lunchbox.

Dairy foods are one of the five recommended food groups and provide kids with ten essential nutrients for growth and development, including protein for healthy muscles and calcium for building strong bones. Low intakes of dairy foods and calcium increases the risk of fractures now3 and osteoporosis later life.4

Parents are vital to helping their kids consume enough dairy foods. In fact, the more dairy foods mums eat, the more likely their children are to eat dairy as well!5 Research also shows that eating dairy foods is not linked to weight gain in kids or adults so everyone can enjoy the benefits of milk, cheese and yogurt.6

All it takes is 3 serves of dairy every day in any combination. A serve is:

- 1 glass/small carton of plain/flavoured milk (250mL)
- 2 slices/sticks or 4 cubes of cheese (40g), or
- 1 small tub of yogurt (200g)
