Dairy Australia supports 26th Annual Innovation Day in Jindong
On Thursday, 1 May, more than 250 participants gathered at Evans Dairy in Jindong for Western Dairy’s 26th Annual Innovation Day, centred around the theme ‘Future Proofing Your Business’.
The event attracted a mix of dairy farmers and industry service providers from across Western Australia.
Dairy Australia was well represented, with Paul Roderick, Cathy Ashby, Greg Duncan, and members of the Western Australia team in attendance.
The event featured a key panel discussion facilitated by Greg Duncan on ‘The Implications of Carbon at All Stages of the Supply Chain’. The panel offered valuable insights, with Rabobank Senior Data Ecologist Tanisha Shields contributing a thought-provoking perspective. Cathy Ashby, who led Dairy Australia’s 2024 Carbon Project Pilot in Western Australia, also provided expert commentary on carbon management across the dairy sector.
As always, the farm tour was a highlight of the day. This year, strong interest was shown in the Effluent Management component, led by Dan Parnell, Project Manager of the Healthy Estuaries WA Dairy Project. Farmers were able to observe first-hand the Evans family’s effluent system in operation and hear about the outcomes of their investment.
Presenter, lawyer and Nuffield Scholar Claire Booth delivered a standout session on farm succession. She was joined by Grant and Nikki Evans, who shared their personal experience with navigating the process.
Western Dairy’s Innovation Day continues to serve as a fantastic opportunity for networking, knowledge sharing, professional development, and community connection. As in previous years, attendees left with practical insights and tools to support the long-term sustainability of their businesses.
