Project Officer (Part-Time)

The Company

At Dairy Australia, our role is to help farmers adapt to a changing operating environment, and achieve a profitable, sustainable dairy industry. We act as the ‘investment arm’ of the industry, investing in projects that can’t be done efficiently by individual farmers or companies.

Dairy NSW is a Regional Development Program funded by Dairy Australia and the dairy service levy.

The Role

We are seeking an accomplished Project Officer to join the Dairy NSW team. This key role will drive the activities and outcomes from the ‘Developing Future Leaders’ project.

Reporting to the Regional Manager, Dairy NSW you will utilise your strong project management and organisational skills to manage the project from initiation. Accountabilities include refining and managing the project plan to meet milestones, the conduct of regular qualitative and quantitative reviews, expenditure and control cost management, tailored communication to key stakeholders, and project risk management and contingency planning. At the conclusion of the project you will provide a report on findings and outcomes/benefits achieved.

To be successful in this role, you must have sound PM experience, knowledge of PM systems and software tools, be outcome focused, able to work independently and manage your time well.

In addition you must be able to:

  • work closely with a Steering Group, producing superior outcomes
  • effectively manage relationships with key stakeholders
  • demonstrate evaluating and quality reporting abilities
  • develop industry/project communications
  • manage budgets, project timelines and agreed costs
  • demonstrate results and benefits from projects managed
  • demonstrate understanding of agriculture and or education design
  • show commitment to excellence with high attention to detail

A degree in agriculture, education or other relevant degree is mandatory and knowledge of, or experience in the Australian dairy industry and education is highly desirable.

If you're experienced in the development and implementation of projects, have high levels of interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, are  self-motivated and enjoy working collaboratively in a small team with the ability to be flexible to deal with organisational and broader industry activity then we would like to hear from you.

The hay and grain report is commissioned by Dairy Australia to provide an independent and timely assessment of hay and grain markets in each dairying region. The report is updated 40 weeks per year.
