C4Milk Developing low risk high forage feeding systemsis a R&D project funded by Queensland Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF) and Dairy Australia.

This workshop series will cover some of the new research findings from the C4Milk project, revisit some of the fundamentals of summer forage management and herd nutrition, as well as discuss any local relevant emerging opportunities and issues.The workshop series will be presented by C4Milk DAF team members (Ross Warren, Dave Barber and Ray Murphy).

Some topics covered on the day will include:

Pasture management:

  • Re-visiting some basic principles;
  • New C4Milk research and opportunities.

Partial mixed rations (PMR):

  • Optimising feed intake and returns;
  • The latest C4Milk PMR research findings.

Cropping:C4Milk summer and winter forage options.

Herd nutrition:

  • Basic principles.

Understanding feed quality tests and balancing diets.
