Dr Sarah Bolton, Veterinarian & Project Officer - Animal Health & Welfare, Dairy Australia will be discussing the challenges and opportunities in management of bobby and non-replacements calves.
Workshop topics will cover:
- Where is Australia at the moment and where are we heading research projects to date
- What are the market opportunities in terms of non-replacement calves, bobby calves and beef cross breeding?
- Internationally, what are other countries doing?
- Expectations/social licence what does this mean for dairy farmers?
About our speaker:
Sarah graduated from The University of Melbourne Veterinary School in 2012. She has held roles in both private and government veterinary practice and now works for Dairy Australia in animal health and welfare with a particular focus on non-replacement calves.
Sarah has previous experience in dairy farm management and calf rearing, completed a Nuffield Scholarship on non-replacement calves in 2018 and is currently undertaking post graduate studies in calf management and public trust preservation.
She is passionate about finding ways in which industry practices can evolve to be economically viable, socially acceptable and environmentally sustainable into the future.
