Dairy farmers of Western Victoria have an opportunity to contribute to the direction of industry research, development and extension with WestVic Dairy calling for nominations to the Board of Directors.
The Board is currently calling for nominations to join the team of eight and to help drive future programs and assist the local industry during this challenging time. Three full member positions are available. These positions will be filled at the AGM which takes place on Tuesday 24th September at the WestVic Dairy office, 5 Cressy St, Camperdown.
Fourth generation dairy farmer, Mark Billing is one of the outgoing board members.
“Being on the Board is a great opportunity to help provide a local focus to the extension activities and programs that WestVic Dairy delivers to the regions farmers.
“It has been most enjoyable working with a dynamic, cohesive group who all share the same goals of assisting farmers to be more profitable and promoting our great industry.
“One of my proudest moments was how the Board, staff and other agencies came together to help our farmers that were affected during the devastating St. Patrick Day fires,” Mr Billing said.
WestVic Dairy is the industry development body for Western Victoria and aims to advance the region's dairy industry. WestVic Dairy ensures the levies collected from the region's dairy farmers are directed to relevant research and development projects and ensures wide communication and assistance to farmers.
WestVic Dairy’s Regional Manager, Lindsay Ferguson said he would like to see more farmers consider the role and apply for the positions.
“We would like to hear from people who are passionate about the dairy industry and are keen to use their skills and knowledge to help advance the industry in our region.
“Our Board sets the strategic plan and direction of the work we do at WestVic – it is an important role and a unique opportunity to help deliver positive outcomes for the regions farmers,” Mr Ferguson said.
