Notes:
Change in price is the change since the last report. Prices are estimates based on delivery to dairy farms with allowance for freight, storage, and marketing costs, but exclusive of GST. Wheat prices are for the relevant stockfeed wheat available in a region (ASW, AGP, SFW1 or FED1) and F1 for barley.
Commentary
- Wheat: Down $15 ($240 to $250/tonne). Barley: Down $5 ($200 to $210/tonne). Maize: Up $10 ($270 to $280/tonne). Sorghum: Up $10 ($295 to $305/tonne).
- Queensland weather has remained relatively favourable and warm, allowing the harvest to progress. The harvest is now entering its final stages across southern Queensland.
- Local wheat markets have weakened as the central and southern New South Wales harvest commences and the AUD strengthens.
- The likelihood of a significant New South Wales crop has increased following favourable weather forecasts. This has seen barley prices trend downwards in recent weeks.
- Old crop sorghum prices continue to be elevated, with demand to meet Chinese container interest the key demand driver.
- Chickpea prices continue to decline rapidly as sizeable volumes enter the pipeline from northern New South Wales and international demand remains subdued.
