2024 Central Conference a success

In collaboration with Major Sponsor La Casa Del Formaggio, and the local Conference Committee, DairySA presented new speakers and engaging discussions against the scenic backdrop of Hahndorf on Thursday, 21 March for South Australia’s annual Central Conference. The esteemed Adelaide Hills Convention Centre served as the venue, drawing 150 industry representatives, farmers, and stakeholders.

According to Regional Manager, Melissa Hunter, “the topics are really set by local farmers in the area”. This year’s event featured a diverse line-up of speakers who captivated the audience with thought-provoking presentations around such topics as managing high performing teams, farmer fitness, innovative technology, regional weather forecasts and animal-health protocols.

Highlights included Dairy Australia Analysis and Insights Manager, Eliza Redfern who engaged delegates and service providers with a Market Update and Outlook. A ‘myth busting’ panel captivated the room, with Fleurieu dairy farmers Asher Jacobs, Ben McHugh, Jake Connor, and Michael Krichauff discussing automated milking systems on farm and the future of robotics along side facilitator Greg Mitchell. Finally, Ag Consultant Jeanette Long provided valuable insights into the delicate balance between family and business management.

Between sessions, farmers also appreciated the opportunity to connect with service providers. “We get a lot of service providers that come and do a trade display, so they obviously provide a service to dairy farmers, and they are always really supportive.”

The event concluded with nibbles, drinks, and a gourmet seated BBQ dinner, fostering further networking opportunities at the Adelaide Hills Convention Centre.
