Top Fodder: Making Every Bite Count
With feed in short supply and every paddock under pressure, smart silage management has never been more important.
The Top Fodder program will help you maximise every cut, reduce losses, and boost the quality of homegrown feed so you can feed your herd well through dry/wet spells and keep production on track.
Program Overview
Making and feeding high quality silage with lower fibre levels encourages higher feed intakes and better cow performance. This program highlights the steps for making high quality pasture silage.
The program covers:
- Using silage in the farming system
- Principles and science of silage making
- Factors affecting the quality & quantity of silage
- Harvesting silage
- Managing the wilting process
- Storage options for baled and chopped silage
- Use of additives and inoculants
- Using silage as a pasture management tool
Program Delivery
One and a half days up-front classroom style delivery, plus half a day hands-on inspection and assessment of silage on farm.
