Join us for on-farm discussion focusing on heifer rearingwith Dr. Bill Tranter.
Heifers present a significant investment on dairy farms. At the point of calving, it is estimated that a heifer has cost the dairy farm owner between $1000 and $2500. Therefore for every 100 heifers raised on a farm, it has cost the enterprise $100,000 to $250,000. To receive a return on this significant investment, heifers must get in calf quickly, calve without difficulty, be productive and get back in calf easily. To achieve good productivity they must be well grown from day one.
Come along and join us for an interactive workshop, focusing on the Dairy Australia 'Heifers on Target' recommendations. Bring along any questions you'd like answered. The discussion will be focused on areas of interest to the group and current seasonal challenges facing heifer rearing on farms.
The morningdiscussion will be followed by lunch.
