Rearing healthy calves (fundamentals)

TIA and DairyTas will be conducting the revised Rearing Healthy Calves workshop in the dairy regions across Tasmanian during June to August.

This 1.5 day workshop combines theory and practical sessions to help people learn about:

Creating a clean, comfortable environment for calf rearing

Colostrum management

Safely stomach-tubing a calf

Calf identification, vaccinations and castration

Meeting the nutritional requirements of calf

Identifying and treating sick calves

The TIA and DairyTas extension teams will be working with vets from the Scottsdale Veterinary Service and the Smithton Veterinary Service to present the Rearing Healthy Calves (fundamentals) workshops.

To complete this course attendance is required both days, June 28 & July 5th
