Lakes and Craters Discussion Group - Conlan's Farm

Ryan and Alysha purchased their 291ha property at Elingamite in November 2023. It was a big change for the young family of four, moving over from Gippsland and milking cows for the first time.

Ryan was raised on a sheep farm near Bendigo and Alysha on a snow pea and beef farm in South Gippsland. The couple ran a successful building company, alongside renovating properties, prior to the move.

They now milk 300 Kiwi cross cows in a traditional, grass-based, seasonal calving system. Cows are dried off to increase family time and enable a break from the milking routine Ryan and Alysha do the majority of the work themselves.
