What is the value of each extra healthy calf reared on your farm? Learn how you can successfully manage the health, growth and future production of replacement heifers.
The Rearing Healthy Calves fundamentals is a 2 day program. Day 1 will be off farm at Camperdown Golf Course and Day 2 will be on farm -location to be advised at Day 1 -at farm in Camperdown region. Program topics include preparation for calving and calf rearing environment; nutrition including feeding hygiene; weaning; health and management of sick calves; calf identification; bobby calf management and review of basic husbandry procedures.
The interactive program gives participants skills to manage fundamental principles of rearing healthy calves and an opportunity to review application of principles in a calf rearing system. All participants will take home useful resources to support calf rearing on farm.
Day 1: Friday Feb 11th from 10.00am to 2.00pm
Day 2: Friday Feb 18th 11.00am to 1.30pm
Lunch to be provided on both days.
This extension activity will be run adhering to COVID restrictions in place at time of event -masks may be required to be worn and proof of double vaccination may be asked for at QR code check in.
