YDN Field Day Perfecting Your Pastures

With the grass starting to grow after a slow start and harvest coming soon, now is the perfect time to fine-tune your pastures for the months ahead.

Join us for a farm walk at the Webber and Chivell Farm to learn more about how they manage their bale feed, grass, fertiliser, and use of the feed pad. We will also explore the drainage system on the farm and discuss the associated costs. Our leader for the day will be YDN Leader, Emily Walsh, an Agronomist and FertCare Accredited Advisor based at Webber and Chivell.

After a brief welcome from Emily and an overview of the farm by the farm manager, Lincoln Dare, we will embark on a farm walk, examining the drainage, feeding residuals, feed pad, and other key aspects of the farm.

Emily will then lead a discussion on how the farm operates, covering topics such as:

• Feeding residuals
• Fertiliser management
• Maize and green chop
• Drainage and associated costs
• Effective pasture utilisation

Lunch will be provided by WestVic Dairy.

All attendees are required to wear footwear suitable for a farm walk, as it may be wet underfoot. A footbath will also be provided for attendees to clean their footwear.
