The Smarter energy use on Australian dairy farms' project

This  project rolled out energy assessments on 900 farms to identify opportunities for farm businesses to save on energy bills.

Each farm received a personalised assessment plan with recommendations for how  to use energy in the smartest, most efficient and cost effective way.
The energy assessment plan included initiative such as:
  • Changes to management practices
  • Optimisation of current equipment
  • Capital investment
The project developed and disseminated targeted information resources including an on farm assessment tool and train industry providers to undertake the energy assessments.

Funding for this project was provided by the Department of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency. The project was also supported by the Australian Dairy Industry Council, milk processors and state agencies.
