Since 1996, Subtropical Dairy has worked to guide the strategy and implementation of dairy research, dairy education and promotion programs in our region. Subtropical Dairy is one of eight regional development groups across Australia.
The subtropical dairy region extends from Kempsey in New South Wales to the Atherton Tablelands in Far North Queensland. Our region has a variety of environmental, climatic and production conditions that create unique challenges to dairy farming, farmers and their animals. Subtropical Dairy is funded by Dairy Australia and the dairy service levy. Subtropical Dairy reports directly to Dairy Australia but also formally to industry through its partnership with the Queensland Dairyfarmers Organisation (QDO). Subtropical Dairy has a Memorandum of Understanding with the Queensland Dairyfarmers Organisation, to ensure that communication and alignment between policy and research is optimised.
