This workshop is for farmers, farmhands and service providers who want to enhance their understanding of the fundamental principles required to support management of good calf health. In this two day workshop, Dr Lauren Clyne will engage participants in a range of activities and presentations to review:

  • preparation for calving and calf rearing environment
  • calf nutrition including feeding hygiene
  • management of weaning
  • management of common calf diseases
  • calf identification
  • bobby calf management
  • basic husbandry procedures -disbudding; castration; vaccination

Day two will be held on farm to give participants an opportunity to review how theory /principles are applied to practice on farm to achieve healthy, productive replacement calves.


All participants will be provided with calf rearing manual, workbook and waterproof shed guides to assist learning and support calf rearing on farm.


Lunch will be provided on both days
