Forage Value Index
The Forage Value Index (FVI) helps Australian dairy farmers make more informed decisions when selecting profitable ryegrass cultivars.
Developed in collaboration with DataGene, Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) and the Pasture Trials Network, it provides an independent and reliable assessment on the potential economic value of Perennial, Italian and Annual ryegrass cultivars.
FVI tables 2026
Each year, the FVI is updated with fresh trial data to ensure the cultivar rankings remain as accurate as possible.
In 2026, FVI trial sites were conducted in dairy farming regions across Victoria, New South Wales, and Tasmania. Any newly available commercial cultivars that meet the requirements for listing have been added to the rankings.
