Mid Coast Feedpad Tour
AUSTRALIA
Mid Coast dairy farmers are invited to join Dairy NSWs Flexible Feeding and Feedpad Tour on Tuesday 31 March, visiting three local dairy farms to see a range of practical feedpad systems in action.
Feedpads are becoming an increasingly useful tool for dairy businesses looking to improve feed efficiency, manage pasture pressure and maintain production during challenging seasonal conditions. This drive-yourself tour offers a valuable opportunity to see firsthand how different feedpad systems operate across the Mid Coast region and to hear directly from farmers about their experiences.
During the tour, participants will visit three dairy farms, each showcasing a different style of feedpad, demonstrating the diversity of options available depending on farm layout, scale and management goals. Farmers will have the chance to view and discuss a basic feedpad system, a wash-down feedpad, and a shed feedpad.
Each host farmer will share practical insights into why they chose their system, how it fits within their feeding strategy, and what theyve learned along the way. The tour will highlight how feedpads can support flexible feeding approaches, particularly when pasture availability is limited or when farmers want greater control over ration management.
There will also be plenty of opportunity to ask questions, compare systems and discuss the practical considerations involved in planning or upgrading a feedpad.
