Q Fever vaccination process

You cannot have the Q Fever vaccination if you have already had Q Fever.

The vaccination process has two steps:

  1. First appointment Screening for Q Fever, skin and blood test.
  2. Second appointment (7 days later) results are checked.
  • If you already have Q Fever immunity, you wont be vaccinated.
  • If you do not have Q Fever immunity, you will receive the vaccine.

At the second appointment, the GP will give you a card showing your Q Fever status (immune or vaccinated). This status will be added to your record in the Australian Immunisation Register that is linked to Medicare.
