Rearing Healthy Calves Fundamentals

This workshop, led by veterinarian Dr. Tom Loughnan, supports farmers to deliver best practice care to reduce risk of disease and support calf growth from birth to weaning.

Topics covered include:

Preparation for calving and calf rearing environment

Management of nutrition including colostrum feeding

Equipment hygiene and weaning process

Sick calf care and treatment

Review of basic husbandry procedure.

The workshop is run over two days, a week apart. Day one is off farm, to discuss principles for the successful management of calf rearing. Day two is on farm, to review operational management of calf rearing with calf rearer.

Attendees will receive Rearing Healthy Calves resources. Lunch is provided on both days.
