Are you a dairy farmer or advisor with a solid foundation in nutrition and feeding management whos now ready to elevate your expertise?

The Advanced Nutrition in Action program gives participants the technical knowledge and problem-solving skills needed to confidently develop and implement effective nutrition strategies on farm.

Delivered by Pip Gale who is a technical services professional at FeedWorks, where he focuses on ruminant nutrition. Pip brings extensive experience in applied dairy nutrition and on-farm decision-making having worked in both corporate and private company nutrition roles over the past 20 years.

Strictly limited to 15 spots to ensure an interactive, focused, and high-value learning environment.

Program Curriculum and Schedule

This is an intensive 10 month program that combines independent online study with face-to-face workshops.

*Please note course dates changed to consecutive days for units 1,2 and 3.

  • Orientation session Thursday 23 April 2026
  • Unit 1 Feeding the milking herd and replacements Tuesday 12 &Wednesday 13* May 2026
  • Unit 2 Optimising herd productivity, health and welfare Tuesday 14 & Wednesday 15* July 2026
  • Unit 3 Developing and implementing nutrition strategies Tuesday 15 & Wednesday 16 September 2026
  • Project Presentation Tuesday 19 January 2027

*There will be activities on farm 13 May and 15 July with lunch and afternoon session back at Deakin University Warrnambool

Admission and registration process

To get the maximum benefit from this advanced level program you will already need to have a solid grasp of herd nutrition and feeding management.

To ensure all participants have the necessary foundation to gain full value from the course, admission is subject to a qualifying quiz.

  1. Register & Pay: Secure your intent to join by registering (cost for this program to be paid at registration is $1650.00 incl GST)
  2. Qualifying Quiz: Once payment is received, you will be invited to complete the pre-entry quiz for the ANIA program.
  3. Confirmation: If the required standard is met/quiz passed, your place is confirmed.Note: If the standard is not met, a full refund of registration fee will be issued.
