Ash, Michelle and Mitch Gristede run a progressive farm business, milking 700 high production Holstein cows.
The herd was one of the first in Victoria to be fitted with Halter collars, with training commencing earlier this year. Halter representatives will be present on the day to answer your technical questions; but more importantly the family will be able to discuss their experience so far. Key highlights include hours of labour saved each day (the cows are run in two herds), being able to move cows off the feedpad remotely and not having to manually put up strip fences.
Green Lightning will also be discussed. The Gristedes have two of the machines, which have been in use for about 12 months. We will see how this technology fits into the farming system. Nitrogen is certainly a hot topic at present, with current urea prices. Tow and Fert has also been used on the farm for several years in itself reducing the amount of urea spread.
Along with these two topical products, we will have the usual look at the herd, pastures and farm system. Join us for what is sure to be a packed and interesting day!
Lunch is kindly being supplied by Halter and NAB. With a large attendance at this joint event expected, please RSVP for catering purposes.
