C4Milk Developing low risk high forage feeding systems is a R&D project funded by the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries, Queensland (DAF) and Dairy Australia.
This winter grazing management pasture walk and discussion will cover some of the new research findings from the C4Milk project, revisit some of the fundamentals of winter pasture management and herd nutrition, as well as discuss any local relevant emerging opportunities and issues.
The session will be facilitated by Ross Warren, DAF Senior Dairy Extension Officer.
The content delivered on the day will focus on:
- the basics of pasture and nutrition management and some of the challenges.
- new research outcomes from C4Milk experiments and their practical integration into dairy feedbase systems
- options to improve margin over feed costs by maximising pasture quantity and quality
- getting the most out of a partial mixed ration system
