Notes:
Change in price is the change since the last report. Prices are estimates based on delivery to dairy farms with allowance for freight, storage, and marketing costs, but exclusive of GST. Wheat prices are for the relevant stockfeed wheat available in a region (ASW, AGP, SFW1 or FED1) and F1 for barley.
Commentary
- Wheat: Steady ($260 to $270/tonne). Barley: Up $5 ($240 to $250/tonne). Maize: Up $50 ($345 to $355/tonne). Sorghum: Up $5 ($300 to $310/tonne).
- Wheat prices increased slightly over the week, whilst demand remains low and hinders grower selling of any old crop stocks.
- Barley prices have decreased marginally, trading at a slightly higher premium compared to southern Australia regions, due to the increased demand in New South Wales after the recent floods.
- The warm and dry conditions leading into the weekend allowed sorghum harvest to continue, with prices maintaining a firm level. Rain has caused some sprouting and will potentially affect the amount of SOR2 that will be required by feedlots given its reduced nutritional value.
