Saving energy on dairy farms booklet

Dairy Australia’s updated Saving energy on dairy farms booklet is now available.

The revamped resource is designed to equip dairy farmers across Australia with a one-stop-shop for on farm energy information, in an effort to tackle the rising cost of electricity on farm.

Latest statistics show dairy shed energy costs have increased by as much as 89% in some dairy regions over the past decade.

The updated booklet now features:

  • A straightforward guide on energy use and addressing inefficiencies
  • A dairy shed energy saving checklist
  • Farmer case studies
  • A breakdown of renewable energy generation on dairy farms

As hot water, milk cooling and milk harvesting accounts for 80% of on farm energy use, the new booklet breaks down how to achieve savings in each of these key areas.

You can access the resources by visiting www.dairyingfortomorrow.com.au/energy or by contacting your local Regional Development Program.
