Sponsoring overseas employees can bring many benefits to a farm business. Increasingly, farmers are utilising this option to recruit motivated, reliable people for their team.

Where to start, whats involved, along with the process, timeline and costs are often barriers to farmers utilising this option.

This practical, interactive workshop will answer those questions and more. Whether you are considering sponsoring employees for the first time or wanting to hear the latest on the options available, this event is for you!

The Dairy Industry Labour Agreement (DILA) is considered the best option when looking to sponsor employees offering great concessions to both employer and employee. You will learn more on how the DILA can benefit your business; even if you are already a Standard Business Sponsor or have a DAMA in place.

Local migration agent Daniel McKinnon will cover the practicalities of the process, timelines, costs, visa options, and employer obligations.

A highlight of the workshop will be a Q&A session with two local farm businesses when you will learn about their experiences and hear their advice firsthand.

Jorge Massa and Antonia Mesa have managed a large, intensive farm business for several years, sponsoring and employing multiple employees over that time. They will share their extensive experience of recruiting, onboarding and developing overseas staff. They will discuss how they successfully integrate new people into the business and ensure they thrive in their role and in the community.

Scotts Creek farmer, Brad Plozzas route into utilising the DILA was quite spontaneous which quickly led to recruiting UK backpacker Ash Bodman. Ash has now been in his sponsored role for nearly two years. The pair will discuss how their use of the DILA has been mutually beneficial to both. Brad will talk about his farmer experience of the process, and Ash will share his thoughts on what employees look for and value when entering into a sponsorship agreement.

Moring tea on arrival, and lunch provided. Please RSVP for catering purposes.
