Humane Euthanasia of Livestock

This practical course provides participants with the knowledge of legal responsibilities and skills to safely and humanely euthanase sick, injured, or unsaleable animals.

Veterinarian Dr Xavier McKinnon will present this workshop.

Topics covered will include:

• Best practice animal welfare standards for humane euthanasia of cattle.
• Options for humane euthanasia of cattle.
• Management of euthanasia including confirmation of death in cattle.

The workshop includes a practical session on the use and maintenance of the Blitz-Kerner

captive bolt.
