There's huge potential to raise the productivity of Tasmanian pastures, and whether you're a seasoned farmer or brand new to pasture management, you're sure to learn something valuable at this two-day pasture management workshop being facilitated by Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture's Symon Jones and Jacob Lightman.
We'll be covering the following topics.
- Pasture species identification and requirements for pasture growth
- Principles of grazing management
- How to set rotation length to maximise pasture growth
- Cow requirements and how to do a feed budget
- How to measure the amount of pasture in a paddock
- How to measure leaf stage and calculate leaf emergence rate
This workshop will be delivered over two days. Participants must be available to attend on both days.
The first session is on Tuesday 16 June from 10:00am - 2:00pm.
The second session is on Tuesday 23 June from 10:00am - 2:00pm.
Refreshments will be provided.
