Q fever vaccination process

You cannot have the Q fever vaccination if you have already had Q fever.

The vaccination process has two steps:

  1. First appointment Screening for Q fever (skin and blood test)
  2. Second appointment (7 days later) results are checked.
  • If you already have Q fever immunity, you wont be vaccinated.
  • If you do not have Q fever immunity, you will receive the vaccine during the appointment.
  • At the second appointment, the GP will give you a card showing your Q fever status (immune or vaccinated). This status will be added to your record in the Australian Immunisation Register that is linked to Medicare.
