Mastitis and milk quality affect the bottom line of all dairy farms. Dairy Australia estimates that every case of clinical mastitis costs around $450 in treatment costs and lost milk.

Milking Mastitis Management Is a two-day training course designed by Dairy Australia and delivered Claire Flannigan from Finley Vets.

Day 1 is classroom based, covering best practice in milk harvesting, with the emphasis on the detection, treatment and prevention of clinical mastitis along with the importance of good stockmanship.

Day 2 covers the whole of the milking process including teat hygiene and disinfection, plant maintenance along with dairy hygiene and plant washing. The course is suitable for anyone on a dairy farm who milks cows - from farm owners, managers and sharefarmers - to family members and farm employees.
