Managing farm costs is fundamental to running a successful dairy farm business. Year in, year out costs contribute to the bottom line and profit achieved by farmers, and in tight years the need to understand costs and manage cash flow is critical.

This half-day workshop will introduce the Farm Business Snapshot tool and Dairy Australias Standard Chart of Accounts, while taking farmers through whats involved in looking at their present and forecast cash position. It will discuss the levers that can be pulled to better manage costs with a view to the long-term profitability of the farm.

Outcomes for farmers include:

  • Ability to better manage cash and costs within their business
  • Understand costs and opportunities to improve margins
  • More confidence and better decision making, especially in tight times
  • Ability to use the Farm Business Snapshot to track their own farm performance

This workshop will be delivered by Sheeraz Ahmad and Lesley Irvine - Extension Advisors Dairy Australia.
