Introduction to Dairy Farm Business Analysis is a pilot of our refreshed workshop, designed to help dairy farmers better understand their numbers and use them to make more informed business decisions.

Facilitated by leading farm business consultants Cam Smith and Tom Farran, this new two-day introductory format replaces the original three-day workshop. A separate two-day advanced workshop is also planned for participants wanting to build their knowledge and undertake more detailed farm business analysis.

Working with a practical farm example, youll enter data into DairyBase and explore what the cash, profit and wealth views each reveal about business performance. Youll calculate cost of production, examine break-even points and consider how changes to inputs can affect returns. The workshop also introduces accrual accounting, diminishing marginal returns, and the relationship between risk and reward.

Whether youre developing your farm business skills or looking for a clearer picture of performance, youll leave with practical tools and greater confidence to apply what youve learned on your own farm.
