Heat detection s one of the factors which will affect reproductive performance in dairy herds.Improving heat detection increases the number of cows submitted to breeding which helps increase the herds in-calf rate. In addition, getting the timing of breeding right can improve conception rates and overall herd reproductive performance.


Join us for an on-farmworkshopin your region, with Dr Carl Hockey, a ReproRight-trained dairy veterinarian,from RuralVet Pty Ltd in SE Qld.


Thisworkshop is a two-hour interactive discussion and Q & A session on farm aiming to assist you to confirm whether you have room to improve improve your herd reproductive performance on-farm and provide you with sopme practical ideas on how to go about this.Suggested topics for discussion include:

  • all aspects of heat detection, including heat detection aids and new technologies
  • discussion around breeding options - AI vs bulls, pros and cons and getting your system right
  • newer technologies and tools and making them work for your breeding strategy
  • the signs of heat and correct timing for artificial insemination
  • how to review your herd reproduction strategy and decide what changes you might make on-farm
  • herd reproductive disease - how do you know if you might have a problem

The discussion on the day will be guided by the group attending and their areas of interest.
