Murray Dairy Young Dairy Network

The Young Dairy Network (YDN) is a program for our region's younger generation of dairy farmers, farm staff, service providers and new entrants to the industry.

We run social events, technical courses, workshops and presentations, an annual Study Tour, and four Young Dairy Discussion Groups for you to network and share ideas. Our Discussion Groups meet monthly around the areas of: Rochester, Kyabram, Numurkah and southern Riverina and always welcome new members. For more information on Discussion Groups, click here.

Most YDN events are free, and others are low cost, thanks to our sponsors including Dairy Australia, Gardiner Dairy Foundation, Saputo and NAB Regional and Agri.

We run a Facebook page and distribute an e-newsletter every second month. Follow us or subscribe to receive information about upcoming events and opportunities.

Scholarships and Grants

Scholarships and grants for formal study, leadership programs, study tours, conferences and on-farm grants are among the options available. These are promoted through the Murray Dairy social media channels and eNews.

Young Dairy Network Steering Committee

The YDN Steering Committee helps to drive the Young Dairy Network,  providing input and feedback on events, development and sponsorship opportunities, and advice on what the network can offer to its members. The steering committee consists of; a Murray Dairy employee, relevant industry service providers and young farmers from across the region, including two representatives from each of the sub-regions throughout northern Victoria and southern New South Wales in order to ensure all priorities and needs are met.

If you are interested in joining the committee, please get in touch!

Initiatives

Dairy biosecurity

Dairy biosecurity is vital for protecting your farm. Dairy farmers and their advisors now have access to a new online biosecurity tool to build their skills and adapt their management approach to biosecurity risks.

Hay and grain reports

The hay and grain report is commissioned by Dairy Australia to provide an independent and timely assessment of hay and grain markets in each dairying region. The report is updated 40 weeks per year.
