School Programs

Primary Schools Program

Dairy Australia's primary schools program provides innovative curriculum linked programs and resources that enable teachers to educate students about dairy.

The aim is for school students to be aware of dairy benefits, where dairy comes from, and the possibilities for dairy careers. The program recognises the need to ensure long term trust and demand for dairy - school students are the consumers of tomorrow.

Discover Dairy

In 2019, Dairy Australia redeveloped the Discover Dairy online resource hub for primary school teachers with a new suite of curriculum linked resources, interactive classroom tools and a brand refresh.

This included:

  • Three health and nutrition lesson plans for primary school teachers
  • Three agriculture and technology resources for lower secondary school
  • Nine student worksheets
  • Six interactive games and quizzes

Since the launch in January 2019, the site has received 114,026 visits and 23,000 resource downloads. Search engine marketing has resulted in 42,873 visits to the Discover Dairy website after the ad appeared in 979,403 searches.

A Discover Dairy e-newsletter called What's Moos is distributed regularly and has proven to be quite popular with a consistently high open email rate from its recipients.

Picasso Cows

Dairy Australia’s flagship primary schools program Picasso Cows is a free, curriculum-linked interactive learning experience, bringing the dairy industry to life in the classroom. The program aims to educate classrooms about the Australian dairy industry and its products.

Participating schools receive a blank, life-sized fibreglass cow that they will design and decorate as they learn about the Australian dairy industry, choosing either 'farm to plate' or 'health and nutrition' as their theme.

The Discover Dairy resource hub supports the Picasso Cows program by providing a comprehensive range of new, fresh, innovative teaching tools, including curriculum-linked units, activity ideas and fun, interactive games for primary school students.

The program was relaunched in 2019 using an online, interactive platform, bringing cost efficiencies and increasing participant program reach.
